Why Lyoxa?
According to the 2025 Volunteer Observatory Report (Rapport de L’observatoire du bénévolat), nearly three-quarters of the Swiss population are members of one of the approximately 90,000 non-profit organisations (associations, federations, etc.). Beyond the statistics, the report emphasises how volunteering fosters social cohesion, integration, and personal development.
At Lyoxa, we experience this every day by:
- supporting Geneva-based associations,
- providing practical tools and advice to strengthen community life,
- highlighting the importance of associations to a large segment of the Swiss population
Lyoxa is an organisation dedicated to providing the tools to understand how associations operate. By helping to set up and manage associations and deliver projects, we aim to make it easier for everyone to get involved in the voluntary sector, so we can work together to improve our society. Our team works tirelessly every day to support, assist, and promote Geneva’s voluntary sector.

Our vision for the voluntary sector
At Lyoxa, we strongly believe that associations are a fundamental pillar of our society. Associations are more than just a legal framework – they’re collective spaces for engagement, experimentation, and social transformation.
Getting involved in an association helps build social cohesion by connecting people, groups, and ideas. It also supports volunteering, which drives many initiatives that lead to real improvements in society.
Community involvement is also a lesson in democracy. It gives everyone the chance to learn how to organise, debate, make decisions together, and carry out projects that benefit the common good. It’s also a powerful way to learn about civic engagement; by participating in community life, individuals develop both personal and collective skills, strengthen their networks, and contribute to Switzerland’s militia system of community work.
We firmly believe that everyone should have the opportunity to help shape the world they want to live in. By supporting citizen initiatives and collective projects, Lyoxa empowers individuals to take action, make their voices heard, and build their vision of society.
Lyoxa’s mission is to make civic engagement more accessible in Geneva by offering long-term support to associations and individuals who wish to get involved. We aim to provide the tools to understand how associations operate, strengthening the autonomy of collectives. We advocate for equitable access to rights and knowledge by promoting the free exchange of information. We promote the vision of associations as spaces for action, empowerment, and democratic learning. Through this, we aim to contribute to social cohesion and enhance community life in the Geneva area.
